Privacy Policy

Overview

Thoughts is built with a simple privacy principle: your data never leaves your device. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything happens locally on your phone.

Data Collection

Thoughts does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

• No personal information is collected (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• No usage analytics or telemetry are gathered
• No crash reports are sent automatically
• No advertising identifiers or tracking pixels are used
• No cookies or similar technologies are employed

On-Device Storage

All thoughts you create (text and audio recordings) are stored in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is only accessible to the Thoughts app and is never synced, backed up to a cloud, or shared with third parties.

If you uninstall the app, all stored data is permanently deleted along with it.

Voice Transcription

Thoughts uses OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition model running entirely on your device. When you record a voice thought:

• Audio is recorded and processed locally
• Transcription happens on-device using the downloaded Whisper model
• No audio data is sent to any server, including OpenAI
• After transcription, audio is stored locally alongside your text

Network Requests

Thoughts only connects to the internet for one purpose: downloading the Whisper AI model during initial setup. The model is downloaded from Hugging Face's public model repository. After this one-time download, the app functions fully offline.

No other network requests are made at any time.

Permissions

Thoughts requests the following device permissions:

• Microphone — to record voice thoughts for on-device transcription
• Storage — to save the Whisper model and your local database

These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and never for data collection.

Third-Party Services

Thoughts does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external dependency is the initial model download from Hugging Face.

Children's Privacy

Thoughts does not collect any data from anyone, including children. Since no personal information is gathered, there are no special provisions needed for children's data.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Since Thoughts does not collect any data, significant changes are unlikely.
